Kentucky Opera Announces the 2009-10 Board of Trustees

Louisville, Kentucky– (May 12, 2009) On Friday, April 24, Kentucky Opera elected the new slate of officers for its Board of Trustees.  Retiring Board President Karl Renninger handed the reigns to John J. Davis, III, Executive Vice President of Harvey Investment Company.  Karen Keith, partner at Napier Gault PLC, will be the Vice President of Development.  Ms. Jill Cooper, VP of Private Banking for Stock Yards Bank, will serve as Vice President for the Committee on Trustees for the Opera, and Mr. John Hudson, Director of Marketing for Brown-Forman will lead the Marketing committee.  Ruth Atkins, VP of Operations & Medicare Advantage for Passport Health Plan, and Paula Harshaw, a community and civic volunteer, will co-chair the Carnevale committee. Senior VP of Wealth Management with Smith Barney, Delmar Newman, and Stephen Berger of Wyatt, Tarrant & Combs, LLP will continue their respective roles as Secretary and Treasurer. 

The Honorable David L. Armstrong, Chairman of the Commonwealth of Kentucky Public Service Commission, and Immediate past President Karl Renninger, Director of Client Development for Summit Energy, will rotate off the board this year.  Both have served on Kentucky Opera’s board for six years which is the term limit.

Kentucky Opera also added new board members:  Karen Ash, Director of HR Shared Solutions Guidance Center for Humana; John Bush Member of Greenebaum Doll & McDonald, Pllc;  Matthew Hamel, EVP, General Council and Secretary for the Brown-Forman Corporation; and Henry Eng, General Manager of Global Products for GE
