I’m into Opera!

This program is geared toward elementary school students. It is a fantastic introduction to opera incorporating terminology and live singing into games, improvisation, and movement. The program is directed by the Kentucky Opera Studio Artists. Terminology is reinforced through an opera trivia game while an opera improvisation allows students to help create a mini-opera by filling in the blanks of a short narrative. This highly interactive program works for any age group. Study guide materials created according to KERA core content are available. $500

Cinderella

Using the children’s fairy tale as the basis for the story, this production uses student volunteers to help the Studio Artists tell the story.  Since almost every culture has a Cinderella story, study guide materials will include information about the African, Native American, and Appalachian version of Cinderella allowing the teacher to explore those stories before Kentucky Opera presents the “Italian” version.

This innovative program engages students and allows them to experience opera in a fun and highly energized environment. The program enhances core curriculum in a variety of subjects including storytelling and culture as well as the arts and humanities curriculum.  Study guide materials created according to KERA core content are available. $500
